Family Visiting Bhavali Dam in Nashik Attacked by Armed Gang After Resisting Alleged Sexual Harassment

Nashik, Maharashtra: A family visiting Bhavali Dam was allegedly attacked by 5 to 6 goons.

The family says the attackers chased their car for nearly 15 km.

According to the information available, a group of five to six assailants riding motorcycles pursued the family's car after the alleged attempt to sexually harass the female members was resisted. The vehicle, which was carrying children, was intercepted during the chase. The attackers allegedly used wooden sticks and iron rods to vandalize the car, assault family members, and create panic among the occupants.

During the attack, the assailants allegedly robbed the family of valuables, including a gold chain and a mobile phone. The incident left the victims facing both physical assault and robbery following the alleged act of harassment.

Nashik Rural Police registered a case under provisions related to molestation, robbery, and attempt to murder. Acting swiftly, the police arrested nine accused in connection with the incident. Among those arrested is one accused who reportedly has a previous murder case registered against him, while one more accused remains absconding.

The incident has drawn serious attention due to the alleged sexual harassment, the prolonged chase on a national highway, the violent assault carried out in the presence of children, and the subsequent robbery. The registration of serious criminal charges and the arrest of multiple accused underscore the gravity of the case, while efforts continue to apprehend the remaining absconding accused.
