TVK Cadres Disrupt Class in Kanchipuram Government School to Install Vijay Portrait, Triggering Political Row

According to details, a group of party workers wearing the party's yellow-and-red shawls entered the classroom and addressed students before placing various items on tables and installing Vijay's portrait. The members also recorded social media reels inside the classroom, leading to widespread outrage over the incident.

The disruption sparked criticism from several quarters, with opponents describing the act as an attempt at indoctrination and a violation of children's rights. The controversy has gained further attention amid concerns over the condition of the government school, which reportedly lacks adequate infrastructure.

Bharatiya Janata Party Tamil Nadu president K. Annamalai strongly condemned the incident and questioned the interference of political activities inside educational institutions. He urged actor-turned-politician Vijay and Education Minister Rajmohan Arumugam to ensure that such incidents are not repeated and called for an end to political intrusion into schools.

The incident comes shortly after Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam rose to power in May 2026 with 108 seats, marking a significant political development in the state. Despite mounting criticism, no response has been issued by the Chief Minister's Office or the party leadership regarding the controversy.

The episode has intensified concerns over the use of educational spaces for political activities and has reignited debate over safeguarding children's rights and maintaining the neutrality of schools amid changing political dynamics in Tamil Nadu.
