Mother Killed in Belagavi Road Accident After Son Swerves to Avoid Dog
A woman from Panthabalekundri village in Karnataka's Belagavi district died in a tragic road accident after her son allegedly lost control of his motorcycle while trying to avoid a dog near Sambra. Unaware that she had died on the spot, the grieving son rushed her to hospital, where emotional scenes unfolded after doctors confirmed her death.
The deceased, identified as Shantavva Kalmath, a resident of Panthabalekundri village, was travelling with her son, Eeranna Kalmath, who was riding the motorcycle when the accident occurred.
According to preliminary information, a dog suddenly darted onto the road, prompting Eeranna to swerve in an effort to save the animal. The motorcycle went out of control, throwing both riders onto the road. Shantavva sustained fatal injuries and died on the spot.
Unaware of the severity of his mother's injuries, Eeranna rushed her to the Belagavi Institute of Medical Sciences Hospital. However, doctors informed him that she had already succumbed to her injuries.
The hospital witnessed emotional scenes as the devastated son broke down after receiving the news. In a heart-rending moment, Eeranna was seen clutching the bag his mother had been carrying and weeping inconsolably. His grief moved hospital staff and onlookers, many of whom struggled to hold back tears.
A case has been registered and further investigation is underway. The incident falls under the jurisdiction of the Marihal Police Station in Belagavi.
The tragedy has highlighted how a sudden and unexpected moment on the road can turn fatal within seconds, leaving behind a grieving family and emotional scenes that deeply affected those present at the hospital.
