Bus-Container Head-On Crash on Jhansi-Lalitpur Highway Injures 21, Six Critical
A devastating head-on collision between a passenger bus and a container truck on the Jhansi-Lalitpur Highway near Ghisouli village in Jhansi injured 21 passengers on Friday morning. Six critically injured victims were referred to Jhansi Medical College as police launched an investigation and local residents carried out swift rescue efforts.
According to eyewitnesses, the impact of the collision was so severe that the container truck lost control, overturned and skidded a considerable distance along the road. The front portion of the bus was extensively damaged in the crash.
The accident triggered panic among passengers, with cries for help echoing from inside the damaged vehicle and confusion prevailing at the scene. Among those injured were Rajkumari of Banpur in Lalitpur district, Anoop Shukla of Jhansi, Kaushalya of Mahroni in Lalitpur district, Sakshi of Hansari in Jhansi, Monika of Lalitpur, Kuldeep of Rajgarh in Jhansi and Ranjeet of Lalitpur. Several other injured passengers are also undergoing treatment.
Former Block Chief Virendra Singh Judev reached the scene along with Kirat Singh, Kundan Singh, Goldy Sardar, Chandrakant Jha, Golu Sahu, Anmol Sahu, Suresh and Kuli Rajput. They joined local residents in rescuing passengers trapped inside the bus and transported the injured to hospitals in their private vehicles. They also arranged drinking water for passengers and provided all possible assistance and support.
After receiving information about the incident, Babina Police Station In-Charge Vinay Kumar Sahu arrived at the site with police personnel and reviewed the relief and rescue operations. Traffic on the national highway remained disrupted for some time due to the accident, but police later restored normal movement after removing the damaged vehicles.
Police Station In-Charge Vinay Kumar Sahu said that 21 people sustained injuries in the accident and six seriously injured passengers were referred to Jhansi Medical College. He added that an investigation into the incident is underway.
Although no fatalities were reported, the collision caused extensive damage to both the bus and the container truck. The incident once again highlighted the devastating impact of high-speed road accidents and the importance of timely rescue efforts in saving lives.
