K Kavitha Demands Sedition Case Against Pawan Kalyan Over Remarks on Telangana Movement
TRS leader K Kavitha demanded a sedition case against Jana Sena Party chief Pawan Kalyan over his alleged remarks on the Telangana movement. Addressing a meeting in Karimnagar, she accused the Bharatiya Janata Party of using him to expand its influence in Telangana and warned against threats to the state's identity, traditions, and political legacy.
Kavitha accused Pawan Kalyan of insulting Telangana activists and questioned the Congress-led Telangana government for not initiating legal action against him. Referring to June 2 celebrations marking Telangana Formation Day, she said a film actor had visited the state and compared Telangana activists to terrorists. She questioned why the government had failed to register a sedition case against him despite the seriousness of the remarks.
She further said that if leaders from her side had made similar comments, legal cases would have been filed immediately. Kavitha also questioned why no action had been taken against Pawan Kalyan for allegedly describing the Telangana movement as a separatist campaign.
Alleging a larger political strategy behind Pawan Kalyan's activities in Telangana, Kavitha claimed that the Bharatiya Janata Party was using the Jana Sena Party leader to establish a stronger presence in the state. She said there was a strong suspicion that the Bharatiya Janata Party was operating through Pawan Kalyan and warned Telangana society to remain alert to what she described as political conspiracies. Comparing the strategy to a wolf in sheep's clothing, she alleged that the national party was attempting to enter Telangana politics under the cover of the actor-politician.
Kavitha also appealed to the youth of Telangana not to be influenced by film personalities in politics. She advised young people to enjoy cinematic entertainment but not to regard film stars as political leaders, stating that actors were entertainment figures and not political figures.
Warning about what she described as threats to Telangana's identity and traditions, Kavitha claimed that if the Bharatiya Janata Party came to power, village deities such as Maisamma and Pochamma would disappear. She said Telangana's unique traditions and cultural identity needed protection.
The meeting adopted six resolutions, including support for the families of Telangana martyrs, protection of the rights of Telangana movement activists, a demand seeking an apology from Pawan Kalyan, distribution of land ownership documents to activists in Karimnagar, and the installation of a Udyama Telangana Talli statue in the town.
Kavitha also announced that women would receive increased political opportunities and promised thirty-three percent reservation in party tickets.
The meeting underscored continuing political tensions in Telangana, with Kavitha intensifying attacks on Pawan Kalyan and the Bharatiya Janata Party while positioning the preservation of Telangana's identity, traditions, and the legacy of the statehood movement at the center of the political debate.
