Ancient Nalanda University Offered Advanced Education Centuries Ahead of Its Time, Historical Records Reveal

Ancient Nalanda University, regarded as the world's oldest residential university, offered education in nearly 64 subjects including science, mathematics, medicine, architecture and philosophy. Long before the emergence of modern universities, Nalanda University stood as one of the world's most prestigious centers of learning and is widely regarded as the oldest residential university in history. The institution attracted students not only from India but also from countries including China, Tibet, Korea and Mongolia. Historical accounts suggest that Nalanda's greatest strength lay in its highly organized, in-depth and interdisciplinary approach to education, many aspects of which closely resemble modern academic systems and, in several respects, are believed to have been even more advanced.

Historical records indicate that nearly 64 subjects were taught at the renowned institution. Education at Nalanda was not limited to religious studies.
