Signify Strengthens Rural Safety Mission at Dudhwa National Park Event, Unveils Expanded Lighting Initiative to Combat Human–Wildlife Conflict
Signify reaffirmed its rural development commitment at Dudhwa National Park during a key event on human–wildlife conflict, showcasing its Every Village Illuminated CSR initiative. The programme has impacted over 400 villages, installed 9,000 LED streetlights, and announced expansion plans for safer forest-fringe communities in Uttar Pradesh.
Aligned with its Brighter Lives, Better World vision, the company emphasized its flagship corporate social responsibility programme, the Signify Every Village Illuminated initiative, which focuses on enhancing safety and sustainability in forest-fringe rural regions through advanced lighting solutions.
The high-profile event was attended by Dr. Arun Kumar Saxena, Minister of State (Independent Charge), and K. P. Malik, Minister of State for the Forest, Environment and Zoological Parks Department of the Government of Uttar Pradesh. Senior officials including V. Hekali Zhimomi, IAS Principal Secretary, Environment, Forest and Climate Change Department, and Anuradha Vemuri, Principal Chief Conservator of Forests (Wildlife), Government of Uttar Pradesh, were also present. The gathering further included senior policymakers, forest department officials, members of the Tharu tribal community, and conservation experts, all convened to deliberate on escalating challenges in human–wildlife interaction zones.
During the event, Signify also launched a coffee table book documenting its impact in Dudhwa National Park, presenting real-life narratives that illustrate how improved lighting infrastructure has enhanced public safety and strengthened community resilience in vulnerable forest-edge villages.
As part of its updated corporate social responsibility disclosure, Signify reported that the initiative has positively impacted more than 400 forest-fringe villages since 2019 in the Terai region. The programme has facilitated the installation of over 9,000 LED streetlights across 400 villages in Uttar Pradesh, covering regions including Pilibhit, Dudhwa, Amangarh Tiger Reserves, Katarniaghat Wildlife Sanctuary, Nagina, Chitrakoot, and Bahraich.
The company further announced its forward-looking expansion plan through a formal letter of intent for the deployment of 1,500 additional LED streetlights across 67 villages in the Katarniaghat landscape, identified as high-risk zones for human–wildlife conflict.
Addressing the gathering, Dr. Arun Kumar Saxena highlighted the intensifying challenge of human–wildlife conflict in forest ecosystems and underscored the necessity of coordinated efforts involving government institutions, subject experts, civil society organizations, corporate social responsibility programmes, and local communities. He commended Signify for its sustained contribution to rural safety and development through its lighting-led interventions and its continued expansion across vulnerable regions of Uttar Pradesh.
Signify, working in partnership with BharatCares, reiterated that its Every Village Illuminated initiative continues to deliver innovative lighting solutions aimed at improving public safety, strengthening community resilience, and advancing sustainable development outcomes across rural India.
The event concluded with a strong emphasis on collaborative action, innovation-driven rural transformation, and long-term commitment to mitigating risks in human–wildlife interaction zones through sustainable infrastructure development.
