Kansai Nerolac Paints Uses Thermal Imaging to Expose Heat Reduction in Groundbreaking Digital Video Campaign
Kansai Nerolac Paints has unveiled a Digital Video Campaign by BUZZINga for its Perma NoHeat coating, using India's only thermal imaging camera in a Rajasthan experiment to demonstrate a 15°C surface temperature reduction. The campaign converts invisible heat reflection science into visible proof, highlighting performance-driven communication in the Indian paints industry.
The campaign adopts an experimental visual approach, filming in Rajasthan to test treated and untreated surfaces using a thermal imaging camera, reportedly the only such device available in India for this application. The footage, rendered in heat spectrum colour visualization, captures temperature differences that are otherwise invisible to the naked eye, transforming scientific performance data into clear visual evidence.
By placing thermal imaging at the centre of communication, the campaign marks a decisive shift away from conventional advertising in the Indian paints sector. It converts an invisible physical phenomenon—heat reflection and reduction—into real-time, observable proof, strengthening product credibility through measurable performance demonstration.
Ramkrishna Naik, Chief Marketing Officer of Kansai Nerolac Paints Limited, stated, “With Nerolac Perma NoHeat, we have always known that the product’s strongest advocate is its own performance. Our objective with this campaign was to close the gap between what we claim and what the consumer can independently verify. It was not built on storytelling alone, but on evidence. We believe that in a market where trust and performance accountability are becoming central to purchase decisions, this approach sets a new benchmark for how paint brands can communicate product efficacy.”
Kritika Beri, Co-Founder of BUZZINga, added, “The brief was simple: help consumers understand that a paint can actually help reduce heat. We felt the answer was not in explaining the science better, but in making it visible. That thinking led us to conceive and execute a film built around thermal imaging technology and a real-world experiment. At BUZZINga, we are always looking for new ways to make brand stories more tangible, and this approach allowed us to turn an invisible benefit into something consumers could instantly see and understand. In doing so, we helped create what we believe is a first-of-its-kind use of thermal imaging in the Indian paint category to showcase actual product performance.”
Nerolac Perma NoHeat is designed for exterior walls, terraces, and rooftop surfaces as a passive cooling solution that requires no power or maintenance. The coating is engineered for climatic conditions of the Indian subcontinent through specialized pigments that reflect solar radiation and reduce heat absorption, improving surface temperature control in extreme heat environments.
Kansai Nerolac Paints, with a legacy spanning 106 years, continues to lead innovation in the paint industry. The company is recognized as a leader in industrial coatings and operates eight strategically located manufacturing facilities across India, supported by a strong nationwide dealer network. Its diversified portfolio includes decorative paints for residential and commercial spaces as well as advanced industrial coating solutions.
BUZZINga, the creative and content agency behind the campaign, focuses on building impactful brand narratives through digital content, influencer collaborations, and integrated communication strategies. The collaboration with Kansai Nerolac highlights a continued effort to develop evidence-driven and visually immersive brand communication formats.
The campaign underscores a broader shift in product marketing toward verifiable performance storytelling, where scientific validation and consumer visibility converge to redefine credibility in the paints industry.
