IHG Expands Luxury Footprint in Mumbai with InterContinental Goregaon, Set to Open in 2030
IHG Hotels & Resorts has signed a management agreement with Zon Hotels (Mumbai) Private Limited to develop InterContinental Mumbai Goregaon, a 350-room luxury hotel scheduled to open in 2030. The project strengthens IHG’s luxury presence in Mumbai and highlights growing investment in India’s hospitality sector.
Located in Goregaon, a rapidly growing suburb in western Mumbai, the hotel will feature 350 guest rooms, including 70 suites. Positioned strategically between Andheri and Malad, the property is expected to offer convenient connectivity across the city, making it an attractive destination for both business and leisure travellers.
The project further expands the presence of InterContinental Hotels & Resorts, the world’s first international luxury hotel brand, known for its focus on cultural discovery, global hospitality standards, and immersive travel experiences. The brand currently operates more than 237 hotels worldwide and has over 100 additional properties in development.
Commenting on the agreement, Sudeep Jain, Managing Director, South West Asia, IHG Hotels & Resorts, said the company was pleased to partner with Zon Hotels (Mumbai) Private Limited to bring the InterContinental brand to Goregaon. He noted that Mumbai continues to witness strong demand from both business and leisure travellers, while Goregaon’s emergence as a key commercial corridor makes it an ideal location for the expansion of IHG’s luxury portfolio.
Jain further stated that InterContinental Hotels & Resorts is recognised globally for culturally rich and internationally inspired hospitality experiences. He said the new property would deliver world-class amenities, personalised service, and a strong connection to local culture, catering to the evolving expectations of modern travellers.
Sandip Gupta, Director of Zon Hotels (Mumbai) Private Limited, described the partnership as a significant milestone and said the collaboration builds upon an existing relationship with IHG. He added that both organisations share a vision of creating landmark hospitality destinations and expressed confidence that the hotel would establish new standards for luxury hospitality in Mumbai. Gupta also highlighted the benefits of leveraging IHG’s global expertise, enterprise systems, and loyalty platform to deliver value for guests and stakeholders.
The upcoming hotel will offer a range of luxury amenities, including five dining venues comprising an all-day dining restaurant, a bar, specialty restaurants, and a lobby lounge. Guests will also have access to extensive meeting and event facilities across multiple flexible venues, including one of the largest ballrooms in Mumbai.
Additional facilities will include a fully equipped fitness centre, spa, swimming pool, retail spaces, and extensive parking infrastructure, enhancing the overall guest experience.
Ishwar Shukla, Director of DGS Group, said the project is expected to become a landmark destination in North Mumbai and a flagship hospitality asset for all stakeholders. He stated that the property would be developed to international standards, featuring exceptional architecture and contemporary design. According to Shukla, the hotel will cater to a broad spectrum of travellers while delivering luxury, comfort, and superior service.
