According to reports, the accident occurred when a minibus carrying workers collided with a truck that had come to a sudden halt on the road due to a reported mechanical malfunction. Dubai Police stated that preliminary investigations suggest the truck stopped abruptly after experiencing a technical failure, leading to the fatal crash.
Brigadier Juma Salem bin Suwaidan, Director of the General Department of Traffic at Dubai Police, confirmed that the collision resulted in seven fatalities and nine injuries in total.
Among the injured, eight were Indian nationals. Five of them have been discharged after receiving medical treatment, while three remain under hospital care. Two injured individuals are being treated at Rashid Hospital, and one is admitted to Al Fakheer Hospital.
In an official statement, the Consulate General of India in Dubai expressed deep sorrow over the tragic incident. Consular officials visited hospitals, met the injured victims, and assured all possible assistance in coordination with local authorities. The Consulate further confirmed that it is working closely with the Dubai administration to facilitate medical care for the injured, support families of the deceased, and arrange the repatriation of mortal remains to India.
