Marriage Season Set to Resume as Intercalary Lunar Month Ends on June 15
The intercalary lunar month will conclude on June 15, allowing weddings and other auspicious ceremonies to resume after nearly a month. Approximately 18 wedding days, including 17 astrologically favourable dates and the unrestricted auspicious day of Bhadliya Navami on July 22, will be available before a four-month pause begins after Devshayani Ekadashi on July 25.
According to the traditional Hindu calendar, marriages and other auspicious ceremonies will once again be permitted following the completion of the intercalary month. The wedding season will continue until Devshayani Ekadashi on July 25, providing a limited but significant window for matrimonial ceremonies.
During this period, weddings are expected to take place on approximately 18 days. Of these, 17 days have been designated as astrologically favourable wedding dates according to the traditional calendar. In addition, July 22 will witness the observance of Bhadliya Navami, an unrestricted auspicious day that is traditionally considered suitable for marriages without the need for a specific ceremonial timing.
The upcoming wedding period is expected to generate considerable social and cultural activity after a month of inactivity caused by the intercalary lunar month. However, the favourable phase will be short-lived. Following Devshayani Ekadashi on July 25, auspicious ceremonies and other major celebratory events will enter a hiatus of nearly four months in accordance with religious traditions.
The end of the intercalary lunar month therefore marks the beginning of a brief but important wedding season, offering families a limited opportunity to conduct matrimonial ceremonies before the next extended suspension of auspicious functions comes into effect.
