India's tour of New Zealand will take place from October 22 to December 1 and will feature a comprehensive multi-format schedule. The tour will begin with a five-match Twenty20 International series, followed by a five-match ODI series and a two-match Test series. It will be the largest bilateral men's cricket series ever hosted by New Zealand involving India.
The series will also mark a historic milestone, becoming the first occasion on which a touring side will play a total of 12 matches across all three formats in New Zealand. The tour is being organized as part of celebrations marking 100 years of cricketing relations between the two nations.
The 40-day tour will commence on October 22 with the opening Twenty20 International in Christchurch. Following the completion of the T20I series, the ODI leg will begin on November 4 at Eden Park in Auckland, where the first match of the five-game series will be played.
The Test series will start on November 19 at Cello Basin Reserve in Wellington. The second and final Test will be played at Hagley Oval in Christchurch from November 27 to December 1.
Speaking about the significance of the tour, New Zealand Cricket Chief Marketing and Commercial Officer Glen Critchley said that no country can match India's stature when it comes to cricket. He said the Indian team's visit to New Zealand represents much more than a cricket series, describing it as a celebration of the shared history and cultural ties between the two nations. He added that the tour would also celebrate the growing rivalry and friendship between India and New Zealand through the sport.
With a packed schedule spanning all three international formats and commemorating a century of cricketing connections between the two countries, the India-New Zealand tour is set to become one of the most significant bilateral cricket engagements in recent history, bringing together competition, history, and sporting camaraderie on an unprecedented scale.
