DS Group Brings Iconic British Cookie Brand Ben’s Cookies to India Through Exclusive Partnership

DS Group has announced an exclusive partnership with Britain’s iconic Ben’s Cookies, bringing its globally acclaimed freshly baked artisanal cookies to India. The collaboration introduces a premium bakery-first retail model, ambitious expansion plans, live-oven stores, and handcrafted offerings aimed at India’s rapidly growing premium dessert and cookie market.

In a significant move in India’s premium food retail segment, Dharampal Satyapal Group (DS Group), one of the country’s leading FMCG conglomerates and multi-business corporations, has announced an exclusive partnership with Ben’s Cookies, the renowned British brand known globally for its artisanal and freshly baked cookies. The collaboration marks the official entry of Ben’s Cookies into the Indian market, introducing its celebrated bakery-first retail concept that emphasizes in-store freshness, premium ingredients, and handcrafted quality.

Founded in 1983 at Oxford’s Covered Market, Ben’s Cookies has built a strong international reputation for its distinctive chunky and gooey cookies. Through this partnership, Indian consumers will gain access to the brand’s traditional baking philosophy, which focuses on simple recipes, fresh butter, quality ingredients, and chocolate chunks rather than conventional chocolate chips.

The brand will debut in India with a wide range of popular flavours, including Milk Chocolate Chunk, White Chocolate & Macadamia, Ginger & Dark, and a dedicated eggless variant tailored to local consumer preferences. Ben’s Cookies will also introduce gifting solutions designed for festive celebrations and corporate occasions. Individual cookies will be priced from Rs. 325, while gifting options will be available at prices exceeding Rs. 1,500, positioning the brand firmly within the premium indulgence category.

Speaking on the occasion, Sanskriti Gupta of Ben’s Cookies India said the launch represents a major milestone in DS Group’s strategic expansion within the premium food retail sector. She stated that the partnership brings together four decades of British artisanal baking heritage and DS Group’s deep understanding of Indian consumer preferences. Gupta further revealed that the company has formulated an ambitious retail expansion strategy and aims to establish eight to ten physical stores across India during the current financial year.

Luke Menezes of Ben’s Cookies emphasized that maintaining the brand’s traditional quality standards remains a top priority in India. He announced that every Ben’s Cookies boutique will feature live-oven baking operations, ensuring fresh batches of cookies are prepared throughout the day. In addition to its signature cookies, the company plans to offer a broader range of dessert products, including cookie shakes, coffee beverages, and cookie ice cream sandwiches. Menezes expressed confidence in the partnership with DS Group and said the brand looks forward to becoming an integral part of India’s growing dessert market.

The launch comes at a time when demand for authentic, handcrafted, and premium food experiences is rising rapidly in India. The domestic cookie market, valued at USD 1.3 billion in 2024, is projected to grow significantly and reach USD 2.3 billion by 2033. Industry growth is being driven by increasing urban affluence and a broader consumer shift toward premium products that deliver authenticity, freshness, and superior quality. Ben’s Cookies aims to capitalize on this trend by offering freshly baked, handcrafted products and curated gifting solutions for consumers seeking premium indulgence.

Ben’s Cookies was founded by cookery writer Helge Rubinstein in 1983 and opened its first shop in Oxford’s Covered Market in 1984. Named after Rubinstein’s son, Ben, the company has remained committed to its original principles for more than four decades. Every cookie is baked fresh in-store throughout the day using high-quality ingredients, helping the brand evolve from a single market stall into an internationally recognized name in the premium bakery segment. The India launch marks the first time these traditional recipes will be available to consumers in the country.

Established in 1929, DS Group has grown into one of India’s leading FMCG conglomerates with a diverse portfolio spanning food and beverages, confectionery, mouth fresheners, hospitality, agriculture, luxury retail, and strategic investments. The group’s portfolio includes several prominent brands such as Catch, Pulse, Pass Pass, Silver Pearls, Ksheer, Rajnigandha, Ovino, L’Opera, Le Marche, Birthright, LuvIt, Chingles, Golmol, and Namah.

The group also maintains a strong focus on sustainability and responsible business practices. Its headquarters has received Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design Platinum certification under the United States Green Building Council’s Existing Building Operations and Maintenance Version 4.0 program, along with Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design Zero Carbon Certification. DS Group has also implemented a comprehensive Double Materiality Assessment across its businesses to align financial performance with global environmental, social, and governance priorities. Additionally, the company reports a water positivity index of 1.8 across its business units operating in 30 locations throughout India.

The exclusive partnership between DS Group and Ben’s Cookies represents a major development in India’s premium bakery and dessert segment. By combining British artisanal baking traditions with DS Group’s extensive market expertise and retail capabilities, the collaboration is poised to strengthen the country’s growing appetite for premium, handcrafted food experiences while expanding the presence of an internationally celebrated brand across India.
