INDIA Bloc Leaders to Converge in New Delhi on June 8 for Crucial Strategy Meeting Amid Electoral Realignments

A high-level INDIA Bloc meeting is expected in New Delhi on June 8, bringing together key opposition leaders including Mamata Banerjee, Uddhav Thackeray, Akhilesh Yadav, and Rahul Gandhi. The agenda includes strategy against the ruling BJP, electoral coordination, and assessment of recent political developments and alliance dynamics across states.

A high-stakes meeting of senior leaders of the INDIA Bloc is expected to take place in New Delhi on June 8, according to sources linked to the Press Trust of India. The gathering is likely to bring together prominent opposition figures including Mamata Banerjee, Uddhav Thackeray, Akhilesh Yadav, and Rahul Gandhi.

The proposed meeting is set to focus on formulating a joint strategy to counter the Bharatiya Janata Party-led central government and to reinforce opposition unity at a time of shifting political equations across several states. Discussions are also expected to cover the outcomes of recent state assembly elections and the evolving alliances within India’s political landscape.

According to reports, the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam is unlikely to participate in the meeting following Congress support extended to the Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam in Tamil Nadu. However, efforts are reportedly underway to bring the Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam into the discussions.

The Aam Aadmi Party had already publicly distanced itself from the alliance and will not be part of the upcoming meeting.

In Maharashtra, the Congress-led Maha Vikas Aghadi, part of the broader INDIA Bloc framework, secured 45 out of 288 seats, while the Bharatiya Janata Party alliance won 230 seats.

In September 2025, Rahul Gandhi hosted a dinner meeting at his official residence at 5, Sunehri Bagh Road with leaders of the INDIA Bloc. Following the meeting, Congress leader K. C. Venugopal stated that the discussions had been successful.

The upcoming June 8 meeting is expected to further test the cohesion and strategic direction of the INDIA Bloc as it navigates an increasingly complex national political landscape.
