India and South Africa Strengthen Strategic Partnership During High-Level Talks in New Delhi
India and South Africa reaffirmed their strategic partnership during high-level talks in New Delhi, focusing on trade, investment, MSMEs, digital technologies, infrastructure, and cooperation within BRICS and Global South forums. The discussions highlighted growing bilateral trade, economic opportunities, and joint efforts to address poverty, unemployment, and inequality.
The leaders held extensive talks focused on strengthening collaboration in trade, investments, micro, small and medium enterprises, digital technologies, and infrastructure development. Both sides emphasized the importance of deepening economic engagement and creating new opportunities for growth and innovation in areas of mutual interest.
During the meeting, the two countries also pledged to intensify cooperation within BRICS and various Global South forums. The discussions reflected a shared vision for promoting stronger representation of developing nations and addressing common international challenges through collective action.
South African Deputy President Paul Mashatile’s official visit to India, scheduled from May 29 to June 3, includes a series of engagements aimed at further advancing bilateral relations. The visit features business roundtable discussions, cultural exchange programmes, and meetings with India’s Vice President and President.
The talks highlighted the growing economic relationship between the two nations, with bilateral trade reaching approximately USD 18 billion in the previous year. Both countries identified significant opportunities for future collaboration in renewable energy, pharmaceuticals, and information technology, sectors considered critical to sustainable economic development.
India and South Africa also reiterated their shared commitment to addressing major socio-economic challenges, including poverty, unemployment, and inequality. The discussions reflected the historical ties between the two nations and their determination to pursue inclusive growth and development through stronger cooperation.
