Saleswoman Accused of Stealing Jewellery Worth Rs 1.5 Crore From Ahmedabad Showroom
A saleswoman at a reputed jewellery showroom in Ahmedabad has been accused of stealing jewellery worth Rs 1.5 crore. Surveillance footage allegedly shows the woman calmly pocketing rings, chains, wedding necklaces, and anklets while working inside the store. Gujarat Police has launched an intensive search operation.
According to the police complaint, the accused woman had been working at the jewellery showroom for the past 11 months. Surveillance footage from the store allegedly showed her calmly examining jewellery trays, removing expensive ornaments, and concealing them in her pockets while continuing her routine duties inside the showroom.
The video reportedly showed the woman smiling throughout the alleged theft as she sifted through multiple trays containing valuable ornaments. Rings, chains, wedding necklaces, and anklets were among the items reported missing from the store inventory. The accused is currently absconding.
The alleged irregularities first came to light after discrepancies were detected in the showroom’s jewellery accounts. Following the discovery, the showroom manager reviewed the closed-circuit television footage and identified the suspected theft operations allegedly carried out over a period of time inside the store premises.
The Gujarat Police has registered a case in connection with the incident and intensified efforts to trace and arrest the accused woman. Investigators are examining the surveillance footage and inventory records as part of the ongoing probe.
The incident has drawn significant attention due to the scale of the alleged theft and the manner in which it was reportedly executed inside a reputed jewellery establishment without immediate suspicion. Authorities continue to search for the accused as the investigation progresses.
