Hyundai Motor India Accelerates Comeback Strategy with Eight New Models Across Segments

Hyundai Motor India unveils an aggressive strategy with eight upcoming cars and SUVs, including hybrid and electric models, aiming to reclaim market share. The lineup spans from compact EVs to luxury SUVs, featuring next-generation Creta, i20, Palisade hybrid, and new MPVs.

Hyundai Motor India is intensifying its product strategy to reclaim lost market share, following its major initial public offering and the acquisition of the Talegaon manufacturing facility. The South Korean automaker is preparing an aggressive rollout of eight new cars and sport utility vehicles in India, targeting a wide spectrum of buyers ranging from entry-level electric vehicle customers to ultra-luxury sport utility vehicle segments.

The next phase of this expansion will be led by the third-generation Hyundai Creta, expected to debut in the Indian market by late 2026 or early 2027. Built on the advanced K3 platform, the upcoming model is set to adopt a more upright, “Mini-Palisade” design language, featuring 19-inch alloy wheels and a redesigned “Zero-Gravity” cabin. A significant upgrade will be the introduction of a hybrid powertrain derived from a 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine.

Alongside the Creta, the next-generation Hyundai i20 is scheduled for launch in 2027. The hatchback is expected to introduce a strong hybrid powertrain for the first time and will be based on the new platform that underpins the updated Hyundai Venue. The model is likely to feature a 1.2-litre turbo petrol engine engineered to support hybrid technology.

Hyundai is also planning to introduce the Hyundai Bayon crossover, which will bridge the gap between the Hyundai Exter and the Creta. Positioned in the sub-four-metre category in India, the Bayon will exceed four metres in its global configuration. It will share its architecture with the new Venue and is expected to be powered by a 1.2-litre turbo petrol engine integrated with hybrid technology.

Further strengthening its portfolio, the company is developing a new seven-seater multi-purpose vehicle to compete with rivals such as the Kia Carens Clavis and the Maruti Ertiga. This model is likely to be based on the same platform as the Clavis. In the premium segment, Hyundai has confirmed the introduction of the Hyundai Palisade hybrid in India by 2028. The eight-seater sport utility vehicle will feature the brand’s new-generation 2.5-litre turbo-petrol hybrid powertrain.

In parallel, Hyundai is working on a new seven-seater sport utility vehicle, internally codenamed Hyundai Ni1i, which will rival models such as the Mahindra XUV 7XO and the Tata Safari. While the global Hyundai Tucson offers a 1.6-litre petrol hybrid engine, the India-specific Ni1i is expected to adopt a newly developed 1.5-litre strong hybrid system.

Hyundai’s mass-market electrification strategy will be driven by an all-new compact electric sport utility vehicle currently undergoing testing in India. Likely inspired by the global Hyundai Inster, this model is expected to be priced between Rs 12 lakh and Rs 16 lakh and deliver an estimated driving range of 400 kilometres.

This comprehensive product offensive underscores Hyundai Motor India’s renewed commitment to innovation, electrification, and segment expansion, positioning the company to compete aggressively across both conventional and emerging mobility categories in the Indian automotive market.
