Fake Police Impersonation Case in Hyderabad: Man on the Run After Viral Videos Expose Alleged Fraud and Security Breach at Telangana Secretariat

A man accused of impersonating a Telangana police constable is absconding after viral videos exposed his alleged fake identity, false political claims, and suspected security breach at the Telangana Secretariat. Police have registered a case and launched a manhunt amid concerns over administrative security lapses and social media-driven fraud.

A man identified as Nikhil Yadav, accused of impersonating a Telangana Police constable, is currently absconding after a series of his social media videos went viral, prompting a criminal investigation and serious concerns over security lapses at the Telangana Secretariat in Hyderabad.

Police at Saifabad Police Station have registered a case against Nikhil Yadav, who is accused of wearing a police uniform, producing misleading social media content, and falsely claiming influential political connections. According to a report by Telangana Today, he allegedly portrayed himself as a police officer while posting multiple reels online.

In one widely circulated video recorded near the Telangana Secretariat, Nikhil is alleged to have told the public that he could facilitate a meeting with Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy. He also reportedly claimed close associations with leaders of the Bharat Rashtra Samithi and the Bharatiya Janata Party, claims which police have confirmed to be entirely false.

Investigators suspect that Nikhil may have gained entry into the Telangana Secretariat using a visitor pass, raising serious questions about internal security protocols at one of the state’s most sensitive administrative buildings. Authorities are currently examining how he was able to access the premises and record videos inside the high-security zone.

Further scrutiny has been directed toward another video filmed during an Indian Premier League match held in Hyderabad on April 18. In that clip, he allegedly claimed to have special access to match tickets and is also accused of selling one ticket to a spectator, suggesting possible fraudulent activity linked to event access.

The viral nature of his videos sparked widespread reactions on social media, with users questioning his authenticity. Some users tagged Telangana Police, asking whether he was genuinely part of the force or merely posing as one. Others mocked his alleged claims of proximity to political leaders and criticized his apparent focus on creating content rather than any official duties.

The incident has also drawn political attention, with critics raising concerns over administrative security and governance. Some opposition voices alleged that the case exposed vulnerabilities in state security systems, pointing out that this was not the first reported instance of an individual allegedly entering the Secretariat under false pretenses.

Hyderabad Police continue their search operation and have urged citizens to remain cautious and not trust individuals falsely claiming to be law enforcement officials or offering access to political leaders and high-profile events through unofficial means.

The case has intensified scrutiny over impersonation, digital misinformation, and institutional security, highlighting the risks posed by social media-driven fraud and unauthorized access to sensitive government spaces.
