Uproar in Amroha After Minors Allegedly Beaten Over Wallet Theft Suspicion; District Administration Steps In

A NEWS1 India report on minors allegedly beaten inside an Amroha police outpost over a purse theft suspicion has sparked major controversy. With parents filing a complaint, the District Magistrate has taken cognizance, constable Nitish has been line-reported, and the case is now under CO City’s investigation as the SP promises strict action.

A case of alleged custodial violence against minors has triggered public outrage in Uttar Pradesh’s Amroha district after a NEWS1 India report revealed that two children were beaten on suspicion of stealing a purse. According to the allegations, the minors were detained inside a local police outpost and subjected to third-degree assault, prompting immediate intervention from the district administration.

The children’s parents lodged a formal complaint, following which the District Magistrate took cognizance of the matter. Officials confirmed that the constable accused in the incident, identified as Nitish, has been placed under line reporting pending further inquiry. The episode, which unfolded within the premises of a police outpost, has now been assigned to the City Circle Officer (CO City) for a detailed investigation.

Superintendent of Police (SP) Amroha stated that strict action will be taken if the allegations are substantiated, underscoring that any misconduct involving minors will be dealt with zero tolerance. As the probe progresses, the incident has reignited concerns about custodial safety and the treatment of juveniles within law-enforcement spaces.

The investigation’s outcome is expected to play a crucial role in determining accountability and reinforcing procedural safeguards, particularly in cases involving children. The administration’s prompt response reflects growing emphasis on transparency and responsible policing in the region.
