Major Land Fraud Exposed in Kanpur’s Sachendi Area; Dozens Duped in Multi-Crore Plot Scam
A major land fraud has surfaced in Kanpur’s Sachendi area, where over 40 buyers were allegedly cheated by two property dealers who sold plots already under court attachment. Police have launched an investigation after victims uncovered the scam through official land records.
According to investigators, local property dealers Mohit Dixit and Sumeet Dixit are accused of selling the disputed land to unsuspecting buyers despite knowing that the property had been placed under legal attachment. The buyers discovered the fraud only after obtaining the official land records (khatauni), which revealed that the court had earlier issued a formal attachment order on the same parcel.
Following complaints from the victims, senior police officials moved swiftly. The Deputy Commissioner of Police directed the Assistant Commissioner of Police to conduct a detailed inquiry and take appropriate legal action. Police have since initiated proceedings against the accused and are examining documents, transactions and related records to assess the full scale of the alleged fraud.
The case has raised concerns over property verification practices and highlighted vulnerabilities that continue to be exploited by fraudulent dealers. As the investigation progresses, victims are hoping for swift justice, while authorities emphasise the need for greater public awareness and stricter safeguards in land transactions across the region.
