Redmi Note 15 Series May Debut in India on January 6 as Xiaomi Prepares Major Mid-Range Refresh

Xiaomi is reportedly preparing to launch the Redmi Note 15 series in India on January 6, 2026. Leaks suggest major upgrades across the lineup, including AMOLED displays, new Snapdragon and Dimensity chipsets, larger batteries, improved durability ratings, and high-resolution cameras for both standard and Pro models.

Xiaomi’s next wave of mid-range smartphones appears to be approaching quickly, with industry insiders indicating that the Redmi Note 15 series could make its India debut on January 6, 2026. While the company has yet to formally confirm the launch date, noted tipsters Yogesh Brar and Abhishek Yadav suggest that Xiaomi may adopt a staggered release strategy—introducing the standard Redmi Note 15 first, followed by the more advanced Redmi Note 15 Pro and Redmi Note 15 Pro Plus models in the weeks ahead.

Early leaks point to a significant upgrade cycle for the base Redmi Note 15. The device is expected to feature a 6.8-inch AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate, aimed at delivering smoother visuals and improved viewing quality. At its core, the smartphone may run on Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 6 Gen 3 processor paired with Xiaomi’s latest HyperOS 2 software. Battery improvements also appear substantial, with the model reportedly offering a capacity exceeding 5500mAh alongside support for 45W fast charging. Additional enhancements may include an IP65 rating for dust and water resistance, as well as a lightweight design coming in near 170 grams. On the camera front, the handset is rumoured to carry a 108MP primary sensor, an 8MP ultrawide lens and a 20MP front camera.

The higher-tier variants are expected to push the hardware envelope further. Both the Redmi Note 15 Pro and Pro Plus may feature a slightly larger 6.83-inch AMOLED panel, maintaining the same 120Hz refresh rate. Protection upgrades could come in the form of Gorilla Glass Victus 2 and an IP68 rating, typically reserved for more premium devices. Under the hood, the Pro Plus variant is tipped to include Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 7s Gen 4 chipset, while the Pro model may run on MediaTek’s Dimensity 7400 Ultra. Camera specifications in the Pro lineup could also see a major leap, with a 200MP main sensor accompanied by an 8MP ultrawide lens. Battery capacity on the Pro Plus is expected to reach around 6500mAh, reinforcing Xiaomi’s focus on endurance.

With competition intensifying in India’s mid-range segment, the Redmi Note 15 series may play a pivotal role in shaping Xiaomi’s market trajectory in 2026. If the leaked timeline holds, the launch could signal the brand’s most aggressive push yet for feature-packed smartphones at accessible prices, setting the stage for a competitive start to the new year.
