Wayanad Landslide Survivor Shruthi Marries Colleague Sandeep at Guruvayur Temple
Wayanad landslide survivor Shruthi, who lost nine family members and her home in the Chooralmala disaster, married her colleague Sandeep at Guruvayur temple on Saturday after enduring several personal tragedies.
The wedding took place in the presence of close relatives and friends. Sandeep, a native of Mananthavady and an employee at the Wayanad Collectorate, tied the knot with Shruthi. Former minister K Rajan also attended the ceremony.
Speaking to the media after the wedding, Shruthi expressed happiness about the new beginning in her life. "I am very happy at this moment. He held my hand, knowing everything about my past. I pray that we have a happy life ahead," she said.
Shruthi's life has been marked by a series of personal tragedies. She lost nine members of her family, including her parents and sister, when the devastating landslide struck Chooralmala in Wayanad. The disaster also destroyed her home, leaving her to cope with the loss of her family and everything she had.
As she struggled to come to terms with the tragedy, another setback followed. Her fiancé Jenson, who had supported her during the difficult period, died in a road accident. Shruthi was also injured in the accident and sustained injuries to her legs.
Following these events, she faced difficulties in securing a job. She was eventually appointed as a clerk in the Public Grievance Cell (PG Cell) of the Revenue Department at the Wayanad Collectorate. She joined duty in December 2024.
Sandeep, who works at the same Collectorate, has now begun a new journey with Shruthi, knowing about the tragedies she has endured. Their marriage at the Guruvayur temple marks a new chapter in the life of a woman whose journey has been shaped by repeated personal losses.
