A massive fire at a Kia showroom in South Delhi’s Saidulajab area triggered a dramatic rescue operation on November 6, 2026, after flames and smoke trapped 12 to 15 people on the roof and upper floors of the building. Firefighters, police personnel and local residents worked together to evacuate everyone safely, with no fatalities reported.

The fire broke out at around 3:44 p.m. near Saket Metro Station. As the blaze spread through the showroom, several people became stranded on the upper floors and rooftop, leaving them unable to escape without assistance.

Emergency responders and local residents launched a coordinated rescue operation using ladders stretched between neighbouring structures. Safety nets were also deployed to help bring those trapped to safety. The operation continued until all the stranded individuals were successfully rescued.

The fire also caused significant damage to property, destroying six vehicles inside the showroom. Officials suspect that a short circuit may have triggered the blaze, although the suspected cause remains subject to investigation.

The incident has renewed concerns over fire safety arrangements in commercial buildings, particularly where people may become trapped on upper floors during emergencies. The Delhi fire incident was among three such fire-related incidents reported in the national capital on November 6, 2026.

The successful evacuation of everyone trapped prevented any loss of life, but the damage to six vehicles and the need for an extensive rescue operation have brought commercial building fire safety into focus.
