India's October 2026 car sales reveal a major change in the automaker rankings as Kia overtakes Toyota. Check FADA sales figures, market shares and the performance of Maruti Suzuki, Tata Motors and Mahindra.
According to data from the Federation of Automobile Dealers Associations (FADA), the October sales figures reveal changes in the rankings of leading passenger vehicle manufacturers, with Maruti Suzuki retaining its dominant position and Kia moving ahead of Toyota.
Maruti Suzuki continued to lead the Indian passenger vehicle market by a considerable margin. Despite the strengthening positions of Tata Motors and Mahindra, their combined sales remained below Maruti Suzuki's individual sales.
FADA data shows that Maruti Suzuki sold 2,11,996 cars in October 2026, accounting for a 41.75% share of the Indian automobile market.
Tata Motors secured the second position with sales of 73,449 units during the month. Its market share stood at 14.47%. Mahindra & Mahindra ranked third after selling 64,982 cars, giving it a market share of 12.80%.
Hyundai Motor occupied the fourth position, selling 58,099 cars in October. The company's market share stood at 11.44%.
The biggest change in the top-five rankings came at the fifth position, where Kia Motors overtook Toyota.
Kia Motors sold 30,799 cars in October 2026, taking its market share to 6.07%. Toyota, meanwhile, slipped out of the top five after selling 28,727 cars. Its market share stood at 5.66%.
Among the other manufacturers, the Skoda Volkswagen Group recorded sales of 9,150 vehicles during October.
JSW MG Motor sold 7,082 vehicles in the Indian market last month. Honda Cars India recorded sales of 5,455 units, followed by Renault with 3,505 vehicles and Nissan Motor with 3,273 cars.
VinFast sold 2,571 cars during the month.
While the month-on-month growth of more than 25% indicates an improvement in passenger vehicle sales compared with September, the 23.80% year-on-year decline highlights the contrasting performance of the market against October 2025.
The October sales rankings underline Maruti Suzuki's continued market leadership, Tata Motors and Mahindra's positions among the leading manufacturers, and Kia's entry into the top five at Toyota's expense.
