Ghaziabad Police Post Blast Followed by Online Threat Claiming Responsibility
A powerful blast at Ghaziabad's Vasundhara Police Post damaged the premises and injured a delivery worker. An X account has since claimed responsibility on behalf of an alleged organisation, prompting a police investigation.
The threat surfaced on social media through the 'Ghazi 2' X account, which attributed the alleged attack to Tehreek-ul-Mujahideen Hindustan. The post has drawn attention as investigators examine whether the claim has any connection with the explosion at the police post.
Police are currently investigating the social media post to identify the person behind it and establish the credibility of the claims. No findings have been announced so far, and the police have not confirmed any role of the organisation mentioned in the post.
According to Indian investigative agencies, there is no terrorist organisation by the name Tehreek-ul-Mujahideen Hindustan. Sources indicate that using this name could also be part of an attempt to mislead Indian investigative agencies. The ISI has reportedly used such names in attempts to mislead Indian agencies in the past. The involvement of the Shahzad Bhatti network is also being examined, although this possibility has not been established and remains under investigation.
The social media threat comes after a powerful explosion rocked the Vasundhara Police Post in the Indirapuram police station area of Ghaziabad at around 9 pm on Friday. The blast occurred in the parking area behind the police post, where scrap vehicles were parked.
The impact was strong enough to shatter two glass panes at the police post and cause a crack in one of its walls. A delivery boy who had arrived to deliver goods at the premises was also injured after being struck by flying glass fragments.
A sub-inspector was present inside the police post when the explosion occurred. Following the incident, senior police officials and a forensic team reached the spot. The forensic team collected samples from the scene and sent them to Agra for examination.
Police are investigating the incident from every possible angle. However, the absence of CCTV cameras in the area surrounding the explosion site has made it difficult to establish the sequence of events. It is also not yet clear what was recorded by the camera installed at the police post's main entrance.
Investigators are examining the explosion alongside the unverified social media threat, while efforts continue to determine who published the post, what caused the blast and whether the claims of responsibility have any factual basis.
