Anup Jalota Says Salman Khan Must Apologise to Bishnoi Community to Stop Attacks
Anup Jalota says Salman Khan should apologise to the Bishnoi community to stop attacks on Bollywood figures. His remarks follow the shooting involving Tiger Shroff in Juhu, as police investigate the incident and security is tightened at Galaxy Apartments.
In a recent interview, Jalota was asked about the alleged attempt on Tiger Shroff’s life in Mumbai last Sunday. Expressing his distress over the incident, the singer said, “I am very saddened by this. There is only one way to stop it. Salman Khan should apologise to the Bishnoi community.”
Jalota claimed that members of the Bishnoi gang would continue targeting people close to Salman Khan until their demands were met. Speaking to IANS, he stressed the need for an apology, saying the community had been hurt and would continue to feel aggrieved otherwise.
“It is very important to apologise to the Bishnoi community because they have been hurt; otherwise, they will continue to be hurt. People who work with Salman Khan will suffer, and their families will also face difficulties. So why not take a firm decision to apologise to the Bishnoi community and put an end to all this?” Jalota said.
The singer’s remarks come amid renewed concerns over the safety of Bollywood personalities following the shooting incident involving Tiger Shroff and threats allegedly linked to Lawrence Bishnoi’s associates.
Firing at Tiger Shroff
At around 7 pm on Sunday, three men riding a motorcycle allegedly opened fire at Tiger Shroff’s car as the actor was leaving a football club in Juhu. Shroff escaped being hit by the bullets, but his driver was injured in the incident. The suspects were subsequently apprehended in Rajasthan.
Mumbai Police has not yet officially disclosed the motive behind the attack.
Shortly after the shooting, an audio clip surfaced on social media in which gangster Anil Pandit, who is based in the United States and is described as Lawrence Bishnoi’s cousin, claimed responsibility for the incident. The speaker in the clip alleged that the attack was carried out because of Tiger Shroff’s close association with Salman Khan.
The speaker also demanded that Salman apologise to the Bishnoi community and warned that further attacks would follow if he failed to do so.
Following the shooting, security was increased at Galaxy Apartments in Bandra Bandstand, where Salman Khan lives with his family.
The dispute involving Salman and the Bishnoi community dates back to 1998, when the actor was reportedly involved in the hunting of a blackbuck in Rajasthan. He was in the state to shoot for his 1999 hit family film, Hum Saath-Saath Hain, directed by Sooraj Barjatya. The blackbuck is considered sacred by the Bishnoi community, and the incident reportedly angered its members.
Over the past several years, Lawrence Bishnoi, who is currently lodged in Delhi’s Tihar Jail, has repeatedly threatened Salman Khan. Gunshots have also been fired outside the actor’s residence, prompting him to install bulletproof windows in his apartment.
In October 2024, Baba Siddique, a close friend of Salman Khan and a former Maharashtra minister, was shot dead in Mumbai. The Lawrence Bishnoi gang claimed responsibility for the killing, and subsequent police investigations also linked the murder to the gang.
Jalota’s comments have once again brought attention to the threats against Salman Khan and the alleged targeting of people associated with him. While the audio clip attributed to the gang has raised questions about the motive behind the attack on Tiger Shroff, Mumbai Police has yet to officially establish the reason for the shooting. The incident has also led to heightened security around Salman Khan’s residence as concerns over the safety of those connected to the actor continue.
