In one incident inside the supermarket, a security guard is seen pinning a suspect amid scattered items. A second confrontation took place outside, where a woman kicked at a guard before being slapped back.
Shoppers and staff watched as the incidents unfolded. Posts discussing the footage noted the guard’s decision to intervene rather than allow the alleged theft to go unchallenged.
The scenes have drawn attention to concerns surrounding shoplifting and staff safety in UK retail. More than 529,000 offences were recorded in a recent year, with the incidents costing billions, according to the information accompanying the videos.

The footage has also prompted discussion about deterrence, the safety of retail workers and concerns over weak policing as shops continue to face the impact of theft.
The confrontations at the Morrisons store in Loughton have brought renewed attention to the risks faced by security staff when intervening during suspected thefts and the wider challenges surrounding retail crime.
