NITI Aayog Unveils Caregiving Roadmap to Empower Caregivers Under Viksit Bharat@2047 Vision
NITI Aayog has released the Reimagining Care: Strategies for Empowering Caregivers in Viksit Bharat@2047 report, outlining a vision for a stronger caregiving ecosystem and India’s role as a global hub for skilled caregiving professionals.
Speaking on the occasion, Vice Chairperson Dr. Ashok Kumar Lahiri said that with the release of the report, NITI Aayog is addressing a strategic imperative that lies at the heart of India’s long-term growth and social cohesion. He stated that the focus is on caregiving rather than medical treatment, adding that care is much more encompassing than treatment.
The report was released by Vice Chairperson, NITI Aayog Member Dr. R. Balasubramaniam and Chief Executive Officer Nidhi Chhibber in the presence of senior officials from Central Ministries. Representatives of international organisations, including the World Health Organization, UNICEF, the World Bank, UN Women, the International Labour Organization and other caregiver organisations, were also present during the release.
The report presents NITI Aayog’s vision of building a stronger caregiving ecosystem to support inclusive development while reinforcing India’s ambition to emerge as a global centre for skilled caregiving professionals under the Viksit Bharat@2047 framework.
