The victim had reached Delhi’s Kalkaji Temple with her 17-year-old friend at around 7 pm on Monday to offer prayers. After completing their worship, the two went to Astha Kunj Park, located near the temple, at around 7:30 pm to walk. They were talking inside the park when three men, believed to be between 25 and 30 years old, suddenly approached them.

The three men allegedly claimed that they were police officers and warned the teenagers that action would be taken against them for sitting there. Before the two could understand what was happening, one of the accused allegedly grabbed the girl’s friend to prevent him from shouting or fleeing for help. The three men then allegedly sexually assaulted the minor together.

After the incident, the accused allegedly threatened to kill the victims and fled into the darkness of the park.

At around 8:45 pm, police received information about the incident through a PCR call. A police team immediately reached the spot, while the minor was sent for a medical examination. A case was registered at Kalkaji police station under the POCSO Act and relevant sections pertaining to rape.

Asif Injured in Police Encounter

At around 6 am on Tuesday, police received information that Asif, who was allegedly involved in the case, was travelling by motorcycle towards southeast Delhi. Police subsequently set up barricades and tracked him near the DM Office in the Amar Colony area.

According to police, after finding himself surrounded, Asif opened fire and attempted to escape. During the retaliatory action, he was injured and fell from the motorcycle. Police took him to a hospital for treatment.

A forensic team is examining the encounter site. The motorcycle can be seen lying at the spot, with its back light still switched on. The police team involved in the encounter is also present at the location, where evidence is being collected.

Another Minor Sexual Violence Case Reported in Delhi

The incident near Kalkaji Temple comes a day after another case of sexual violence involving a minor was reported from the Deshbandhu Gupta Road area of central Delhi on Monday evening.

According to police, local residents took 34-year-old Ankit, along with the girl and her family, to the Shidipura police outpost. The residents claimed that they had caught him sexually assaulting the girl.

The accused was taken into custody, while the girl was sent for a medical examination. Police are taking action in the case under the POCSO Act and relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.

The two cases, reported in different parts of the national capital within a day, have brought renewed attention to the safety of minors in public spaces, while investigations into both incidents continue.
