The immersion process continued across Mumbai during the Ganesh festival, with large crowds of devotees gathering in different parts of the city on the fifth day of Ganesh idol immersion. People participated in the farewell ceremonies with enthusiasm and followed their religious traditions while immersing Ganpati idols.
According to the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) report, a total of 32,345 Ganesh and Hartalika idols had been immersed in Mumbai by midnight on September 19, 2026. The figure includes idols installed by public Ganesh mandals as well as those installed in homes.
The report stated that 662 public Ganesh idols were immersed on the fifth day. At the same time, devotees immersed 31,647 household Ganesh idols at different immersion locations. In addition, 36 Hartalika idols were also immersed.
The BMC and other concerned agencies continuously monitored the immersion process. The administration made the necessary arrangements at different immersion sites to manage the proceedings. Security and crowd management were also given particular attention in view of the large number of devotees.
According to the BMC, the immersion process remained peaceful on the fifth day as well. No untoward incident was reported during the proceedings.
Devotees bid farewell to Ganpati Bappa amid drums and traditional celebrations
Every year, a large number of public and household Ganesh idols are installed across Mumbai during the Ganesh festival. Devotees immerse the idols on different days of the festival according to their respective traditions.
The figures released by the BMC show that a large number of devotees continued to bid farewell to Ganpati Bappa on the fifth day as well. The BMC and the Maharashtra administration continue to maintain arrangements and remain focused on security during the ongoing immersion process.
