Jahnavi Killekar Responds to Trolls Over Ganpati Dance Video: ‘Say Something That Makes Sense’
Jahnavi Killekar has responded to trolls who criticised her Ganeshotsav dance reel for facing away from Lord Ganesha, questioning why similar dancing during other festivals is not criticised.
With Ganeshotsav underway, Jahnavi also created a reel for Bappa. She danced to the song ‘San Gauri Ganpaticha Aala’, but the video soon attracted trolling. Some users criticised her for allegedly dancing with her back towards Lord Ganesha. Jahnavi has now responded directly to the comments.
On the first day of Ganeshotsav, Jahnavi shared photographs in a simple look. She wore no makeup, had a bindi on her forehead, a mangalsutra around her neck and a saree. She also posted photographs of herself with folded hands in front of the deity. One user commented, ‘Navra vikla ka kay?’
On the following day, Jahnavi and her sister-in-law made a reel together on ‘San Gauri Ganpaticha Aala’. They danced in the video, after which some users began criticising them, saying they were dancing with their backs towards the deity and questioning whether they had no shame.
Jahnavi responded to the trolling through a video specifically addressed to her trolls. In the video, she said, “Hi, hello, namaskar. Today’s video is for my trolls. Actually, I feel like laughing a lot today. I am not feeling bad at all, because you have to find some mistake in every video of mine.”
She further said, “On the first day, I wore a simple look and folded my hands before God, and you comment asking whether my husband was sold. On the second day, I danced and you said I was dancing with my back towards God. At least say something that makes sense.”
Jahnavi also questioned the criticism by referring to other festive occasions. She said that the same people make women dance in front of the deity during Ganpati immersion, Dahi Handi and Navratri. She questioned whether that was acceptable and whether those women did not also have their backs towards the deity. According to Jahnavi, when she dances, people immediately come forward to give her lectures.
Jahnavi made it clear that the trolling does not affect her. She said, “Do whatever you want. I am living my life happily. God is with me. I am successful. What you say does not make any difference to me.”
She further said, “When there is a public Ganpati immersion, people dance in front of God, right? They dance with their backs towards God, right? Then why don’t you speak up at that time?”
Jahnavi concluded by saying, “I don’t have time to look at useless people like you. I have many fans who love me. I would rather give my time to them. I will pray to Bappa that people like you are blessed with wisdom.”
While sharing the video, Jahnavi wrote in the caption, “Now bad comments will come again… so I am turning off the comment section.”
Jahnavi’s outspoken response has drawn attention from her fans. The controversy began after her Ganeshotsav dance reel was criticised over the claim that she danced with her back towards the deity, following which she addressed the comments directly in her video.
