According to an official press release, Ambassador Caucino stated that Argentina is destined to continue enhancing its cooperation and connections with India across multiple sectors.
He said India has emerged as Argentina’s sixth-largest economic partner, following major economies such as the United States, China, and the European Union, along with Argentina’s two major neighbouring countries, Brazil and Chile.
The ambassador noted that the economic relationship between India and Argentina reached nearly USD 6 billion in 2025.
"The relationship with India is growing in line with India's emerging global status," Caucino said, adding that India has become one of the leading economies in the world.
Highlighting the historic foundation of bilateral relations, Ambassador Caucino said Argentina established its Embassy in New Delhi in 1950, becoming one of the first Latin American countries to have a resident ambassador in India shortly after the country gained independence.
He said India and Argentina share common values, including democracy and respect for human dignity, and have cooperated on international platforms such as the Group of Twenty.
Caucino further stated that in recent years, both countries have witnessed greater alignment of national interests due to the objective complementarity between their economies.
"Last year, in 2025, Argentina became India's main provider of edible oils," the ambassador said.
He highlighted several important milestones in bilateral ties, including the opening of Argentina’s Consulate General in Mumbai, the establishment of the Office of the Agricultural Attaché, and the elevation of India-Argentina relations to the level of a Strategic Partnership.
The ambassador said relations between India and South America are expected to continue strengthening as both regions can contribute significantly to India’s development ambitions, particularly as Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s government continues efforts towards achieving the goal of becoming a fully developed country by 2047.
Caucino said Argentina can expand cooperation with India in key sectors such as critical minerals and energy, while continuing collaboration in agriculture. He added that government efforts to open and diversify the economy are expected to deliver positive outcomes for consumers by providing access to more and better products.
The ambassador also highlighted Argentina’s agricultural strength, stating that despite being the eighth-largest country in the world, Argentina has a population of fewer than 50 million people and possesses an extraordinary ability to produce agricultural products efficiently.
Emphasising Argentina’s strategic advantages, Caucino said the country is located far from India but remains in a peaceful region without major geopolitical conflicts.
