CJP Founder Abhijeet Dipke Targets Maharashtra Education Minister Over School Conditions
CJP founder Abhijeet Dipke targets Maharashtra Education Minister Dada Bhuse after alleging irregularities and poor facilities at a Latur school, while the principal rejects the claims.
Dipke, who had earlier campaigned for the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan over the NEET paper leak issue, is now leading the “School Theek Karo” (Fix The Schools) campaign. On Thursday, he visited a government school in the Ausa area of Latur district and alleged serious irregularities in the functioning and facilities of the institution.
During his visit to the Zilla Parishad school, Dipke alleged that students from other schools had been brought in and made to sit in classrooms. He further claimed that some of the students present were not even registered in the school records.
Dipke also alleged that liquor bottles were found on the school premises. He claimed that the school lacked drinking water and that its toilets had been cleaned shortly before his arrival.
The school is located in Ausa, more than 500 km from Mumbai. Dipke alleged that preparations had been made after news of his visit reached the authorities. In a video of the inspection shared on his X handle, he claimed that fresh plates for the mid-day meal were brought to the school after officials learned that he was coming.
In the video, Dipke is seen interacting with students before being told that they were not from the school. He is also seen holding his head in surprise and arguing with a teacher. He alleged that the school lacked drinking water and proper toilet facilities.
Dipke further claimed that the school premises had been cleaned only a day before his visit. He said photographs taken during the inspection indicated that illegal activities were taking place within the school compound, where liquor bottles were allegedly found.
School authorities, however, rejected Dipke’s allegations. School principal Balaji Gawali clarified that two separate schools, one Marathi-medium and one Urdu-medium, operate from the same building. He rejected the claim that students from outside had been brought in and asserted that the children present during the visit were students of the school.
Gawali also denied that new plates had been procured merely to create an impression for Dipke’s visit. He said the children were eating from older plates that had already been provided to the school.
The principal maintained that Dipke was under the mistaken impression that the arrangements and displays at the school had been staged specifically for his inspection, asserting that this was not the case.
During the visit, Dipke said the students in the schools were living in conditions “worse than animals”. He stated, “Even a minister's dog gets better facilities than the students! If the government hasn't been able to fix leaking roofs or address the shortage of benches in ten years, what exactly have they achieved?”
Dipke has demanded the resignation of Maharashtra School Education Minister Dada Bhuse. He also demanded that the block education officers responsible for the poor condition of schools in the area, who remained unavailable citing official tours, be suspended within eight days.
The Cockroach Janta Party has launched the “School Theek Karo” campaign to conduct a social audit of government-run and municipal schools across Latur district in Maharashtra.
As part of the campaign, the CJP has prepared a 10-point audit format covering basic facilities, school administration, government schemes, safety and security, transportation, mid-day meals, accessibility, cleanliness and the overall functioning of schools.
