Mumbai University Makes APAAR ID Mandatory for Hall Tickets From 2026-27
Mumbai University has made APAAR ID mandatory for hall tickets from 2026-27 and introduced a 30-minute early reporting rule. An Aadhaar facilitation camp will assist students with APAAR, ABC ID and authentication issues.
APAAR, or Automated Permanent Academic Account Registry, is a 12-digit student identification number designed to digitally store and link academic records. Mumbai University has made submission of the APAAR ID a mandatory requirement for generating hall tickets for its examinations from the 2026-27 academic session. Students who do not provide the required details may not be able to access their hall tickets.
The university's decision was taken following discussions and approvals involving its Board of Examinations and Evaluation, Management Council and Academic Council. The early reporting requirement is intended to allow sufficient time for identity verification, seating arrangements and other examination-related procedures before the test begins.
To help students facing difficulties with APAAR ID creation, ABC ID linking or Aadhaar authentication, Mumbai University has organised a special Aadhaar facilitation camp. The university's official circular page lists the camp for August 19 and 20, 2026.
Students who have not yet created their APAAR ID or are facing technical or authentication issues have been advised to use the facilitation arrangements. The university has also asked students to carry their Aadhaar cards and other relevant documents to help officials resolve issues.
Under the new examination directive, students appearing for Mumbai University examinations from the 2026-27 academic year onwards must be present in the examination hall at least 30 minutes before the scheduled commencement of the examination.
For instance, a student whose examination is scheduled to begin at 10:30 am will be required to be inside the examination hall by 10 am. The university has directed principals, directors and heads of departments of affiliated colleges and institutions to communicate the rule to students, teachers and examination staff and ensure its implementation.
The university has said that the advance reporting time will facilitate identity checks, seating arrangements and other procedures before the examination begins. Students have therefore been advised to plan their travel accordingly and avoid last-minute arrival at examination centres.
