India High Commissioner Santosh Jha Hosts Team India Ahead of Sri Lanka Test
India High Commissioner Santosh Jha hosted Team India and Sri Lanka at India House in Colombo ahead of the second Test, as Shubman Gill’s side seeks a 2-0 series win after its 165-run victory in Galle.
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), in a post on X, said High Commissioner Santosh Jha hosted Team India ahead of the second Test, describing the gathering as a “memorable evening.”
“A memorable evening in Colombo! H.E. Mr. Santosh Jha - High Commissioner of India to Sri Lanka - hosted #TeamIndia at the India House in Colombo ahead of the second Test against Sri Lanka,” the BCCI said in its X post.
High Commissioner Santosh Jha also said he was happy to host both the Indian and Sri Lankan cricket teams, highlighting how their shared passion for cricket continues to strengthen the longstanding ties between the two countries.
“Cheering for #TeamIndia. Happy to host the Indian and Sri Lankan Men's Cricket Teams during the ongoing ICC World Test Championship matches in Sri Lanka. Bound by a shared passion for the sport, cricket continues to strengthen the enduring ties between India and Sri Lanka,” he said in an X post.
Team India will enter the second Test with a 1-0 lead and will look to complete a 2-0 series victory with another win. The Shubman Gill-led side secured an impressive victory over Sri Lanka in the opening Test at Galle.
In the first Test, India defeated Sri Lanka by 165 runs, with Manav Suthar’s maiden 10-wicket haul and Devdutt Padikkal’s 167 in the first innings playing key roles in the victory.
The reception at the India House in Colombo comes as both teams prepare for the second Test, with India seeking to close out the two-match series 2-0 after taking the lead in the opening encounter.
