India-Brazil Sign Telecom MoU to Boost Digital Infrastructure and Emerging Tech
India and Brazil sign a telecom and ICT MoU in Pune to deepen cooperation on digital infrastructure, cybersecurity, connectivity and emerging technologies, strengthening collaboration amid India’s 2026 BRICS Chairship.
The Department of Telecommunications announced the agreement on the sidelines of the BRICS ICT Track Meeting. The MoU was signed during the 12th BRICS Communications Ministers Meeting in Pune by Union Minister of Communications Jyotiraditya M. Scindia and H.E. Mr Frederico de Siqueira Filho, Minister of Communications, Brazil.
Union Minister Scindia said the agreement would deepen bilateral collaboration on universal connectivity, cybersecurity, digital public infrastructure, emerging technologies, capacity building and the exchange of best practices. He described the MoU as a strong step forward in strengthening India-Brazil collaboration for a secure and inclusive digital future.
The MoU provides a framework for structured cooperation in telecommunications, digital infrastructure and emerging technologies. It follows discussions between the two ministers earlier this year on strengthening India-Brazil cooperation in telecom and digital infrastructure.
The partnership is aimed at promoting an inclusive, secure and resilient digital ecosystem in both countries. It will facilitate the exchange of knowledge, expertise and best practices while encouraging collaboration in research, innovation and the development of new-age communication technologies.
India and Brazil have also emphasised the importance of strengthening cooperation in international telecommunications and technology forums.
The agreement assumes significance in the context of India’s BRICS Chairship in 2026, with digital transformation, trusted technology and inclusive connectivity emerging as important areas of cooperation among BRICS countries. India has been advocating greater collaboration among member countries in digital public infrastructure and international telecom standards.
The India-Brazil agreement is also part of the broader strategic partnership between the two countries, covering trade and investment, agriculture, energy, science and technology, digital cooperation and cybersecurity. The MoU provides a structured platform for advancing cooperation across telecommunications, digital infrastructure and emerging technologies.
