Japan Defence Minister Shinjirō Koizumi Visits Western Naval Command in Mumbai
Japan Defence Minister Shinjirō Koizumi visited Mumbai’s Western Naval Command, held discussions with top Indian Navy officials, inspected the Guard of Honour, laid a wreath at Gaurav Stambh and visited INS Chennai.
During his visit, Koizumi was briefed on the roles, responsibilities and operational capabilities of the Indian Navy. The briefing provided an overview of the Navy’s operational responsibilities and capabilities.
Koizumi also inspected the Guard of Honour and laid a wreath at Gaurav Stambh during his visit to the Western Naval Command.
The Japanese Defence Minister subsequently visited the indigenous warship INS Chennai as part of his visit.
The visit to the Western Naval Command marked a key engagement during Koizumi’s maiden visit to India, with discussions focused on the Indian Navy’s roles, responsibilities and operational capabilities.
