Drug-Free India Campaign Gains Momentum in Lakhisarai as Signature Drive Begins During De-Addiction Week
Lakhisarai administration launched a signature campaign at the Collectorate premises as part of the De-Addiction Week being observed from June 17 to June 29 under the Drug-Free India Campaign. District Magistrate Shailendra Kumar and senior officials urged citizens to unite against substance abuse and promote a healthy, drug-free society through collective awareness and participation.
The signature campaign was formally inaugurated by District Magistrate Shailendra Kumar, Deputy Development Commissioner Sumit Kumar, Additional District Magistrate Neeraj Kumar and officials of the Social Security Cell, who marked the beginning of the drive by signing the campaign board. During the event, government officials, employees and members of the public pledged to stay away from intoxicating substances and work towards building a drug-free society.
The programme aims to create awareness about the harmful effects of substance abuse and encourage young people in particular to refrain from consuming narcotic substances. Addressing the gathering, District Magistrate Shailendra Kumar said that addiction is harmful to individuals, families and society as a whole. He stated that the consumption of narcotic substances not only adversely affects health but also creates social and economic problems.
He said that the primary objective of the Drug-Free India Campaign is to enhance awareness across society and motivate people to adopt healthy and positive lifestyles. Appealing to citizens to actively participate in the movement against addiction, he stressed that every section of society must come forward to protect the younger generation from the evils of substance abuse and guide them in the right direction. He added that only collective efforts can ensure the creation of a healthy and drug-free society.
People present at the programme expressed their commitment against drug abuse by signing the campaign board. Assistant Director Dheeraj Kumar, Executive Assistant Shivkumar, Clerk Amit Kumar, Data Entry Operator Sunil Kumar and several other officials and employees were also present during the event.
Throughout the programme, a strong message was delivered to spread awareness about de-addiction and safeguard society from the harmful consequences of substance abuse. The initiative highlighted the administration's commitment to fostering a healthier and more responsible society through collective public participation.
