Cockroach Janta Party Stages Protest at Jantar Mantar Over NEET Leak, Seeks Education Minister's Resignation
The satirical Cockroach Janta Party held a major protest at Jantar Mantar demanding the resignation of Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan over the NEET-UG 2026 paper leak. The demonstration highlighted examination glitches, student suicides, administrative errors, and ongoing investigations as more than 22 lakh candidates prepare for the re-examination.
The protest came against the backdrop of the cancellation of the May 3 examination and the reported suicides of at least 11 students since the disruption. Protesters accused the Education Ministry and the National Testing Agency of failing to ensure a secure and transparent examination process.

The demonstration coincided with a nationwide mock drill conducted by the National Testing Agency ahead of Sunday's re-examination, which is scheduled for more than 22 lakh candidates. The controversy has also been aggravated by administrative errors, including a case involving an aspirant from Nagpur who reportedly received an incorrect admit card showing Abu Dhabi as the examination centre.
Amid mounting criticism, Dharmendra Pradhan acknowledged lapses in the conduct of the examination process and assured that reforms would be implemented. He announced plans to introduce computer-based testing from 2027 in an effort to strengthen transparency and reduce the possibility of irregularities.
Meanwhile, the Central Bureau of Investigation continues its probe into the paper leak, as concerns over examination integrity and the future of millions of students remain at the centre of national attention. The latest protest has added pressure on authorities to restore confidence in the country's competitive examination system and ensure accountability for the irregularities that triggered one of the most significant controversies in recent years.
