West Bengal Phase Two Voting Sees Robust Turnout, Crosses 61 Percent by Early Afternoon

Voting in the second phase of West Bengal elections witnessed strong participation, with turnout crossing 61 percent by 1 PM. District-wise data shows steady growth from early morning, reflecting high voter engagement across urban and rural constituencies.

 

Voting in the second phase of elections in West Bengal is progressing with significant voter participation, as turnout figures continued to rise steadily through the day. By 1:00 PM, the overall voter turnout reached 61.11 percent, reflecting strong engagement across multiple districts and urban constituencies.

According to official data, North 24 Parganas recorded 59.20 percent voting by 1:00 PM, while Kolkata North reported 60.18 percent. In Kolkata South, turnout stood at 57.73 percent, and South 24 Parganas registered 58.58 percent. Nadia saw 61.41 percent participation, while Purba Bardhaman emerged with the highest turnout at 66.80 percent. Howrah recorded 60.68 percent, and Hooghly reported 64.57 percent voting by early afternoon.

Earlier in the day, voter turnout stood at 39.97 percent by 11:00 AM. At that point, North 24 Parganas recorded 38.43 percent voting, Kolkata North reported 38.39 percent, and Kolkata South registered 36.78 percent. South 24 Parganas saw 37.92 percent turnout, while Nadia recorded 40.34 percent. Purba Bardhaman continued to lead with 44.50 percent voting, followed by Howrah at 39.45 percent and Hooghly at 43.12 percent.

Initial polling figures at 9:00 AM indicated a turnout of 18.39 percent across the state. North 24 Parganas recorded 17.81 percent voting at that time, while Kolkata North and Kolkata South reported 17.28 percent and 16.81 percent respectively. South 24 Parganas saw 17.25 percent participation, Nadia recorded 18.50 percent, and Purba Bardhaman again led with 20.86 percent turnout. Howrah registered 17.76 percent, while Hooghly reported 20.16 percent voting during the early hours.
