Karwa Chauth Moonrise Time 2026
The moon is expected to rise at 8:17 PM on Karwa Chauth. However, the exact moonrise time may vary by a few minutes depending on the city.
Women observing the fast can check the expected moonrise time for their respective cities to prepare for the evening rituals and offer arghya at the appropriate time.
How to Perform Moon Worship and Offer Arghya on Karwa Chauth
Women should prepare their puja thali before moonrise. The thali should contain a brass or copper pot filled with water or a karwa with a spout. A sieve, a flour or clay lamp, roli, akshat, flowers and sweets should also be kept in the thali. A small glass should be arranged for drinking water from the husband's hands after the puja.
Once the moon appears, women should light a ghee lamp in the sieve and view the Moon God through it.
They should then prepare arghya by mixing water, a little milk, akshat and flowers in a pot and offering it to the moon. Roli and akshat should also be offered to the Moon God, followed by sweets as bhog.
After the offerings, women should perform the Moon God's aarti and circumambulate three times while standing in their place. They should then pray to the Moon God for अखंड सौभाग्य (unbroken marital bliss).
Following the moon worship, women should look at their husbands' faces through the same sieve. They should touch their husbands' feet and seek their blessings before drinking water from their husbands' hands and eating sweets to break the fast.
The rituals conclude with women touching the feet of all the elders in the family to seek their blessings.
