Rajasthan High Court Orders Joint Meeting on Jaipur Railway Overbridge Land Dispute
The Rajasthan High Court has directed the JDA, Official Liquidator and Indian Railways to jointly resolve the Jaipur overbridge land issue involving 826 square yards and Jaipur Spinning and Weaving Mill Ltd. The next hearing is scheduled for November 6, 2026.
Justice Sameer Jain issued the direction while hearing a batch of company matters connected with Jaipur Spinning and Weaving Mill Ltd. The JDA is seeking the transfer of 826 square yards of land to the Railways in the larger public interest to facilitate the construction of the overbridge.
During the hearing, counsel for the JDA told the Court that the matter concerns a valuable parcel of 32 bighas of land situated in the heart of Jaipur. The counsel submitted that the overbridge must be constructed under an understanding between the Railways and the JDA, as people are suffering badly in the absence of the facility.
The Official Liquidator informed the Court that an application had been filed seeking the removal of encroachers from the land.
During the proceedings, a Senior Advocate raised a separate issue concerning the old company petition. The advocate submitted that a Division Bench had dealt with an earlier challenge in September and had also dismissed the Division Bench company petition as not pressed.
Responding to the submission, the Official Liquidator stated that no such instructions had ever been given and described the entry as an inadvertent error. The Court permitted the Official Liquidator to file an application seeking correction of that part of the Division Bench order.
The Court also noted that no one had appeared on behalf of the State during the proceedings. It directed the office of the Official Liquidator to inform the Advocate General’s office about the matter.
In its order, the Court directed the concerned authorities to coordinate and place their final positions before it at the next hearing.
“The office of Official Liquidator, JDA and Zonal Manager Indian Railways are directed to conduct a consolidated meeting and put-forth their conclusive statements, on the next date of hearing, before this Court.”
The matters have been listed for further hearing on November 6, 2026. The joint meeting is expected to bring the positions of the Official Liquidator, the JDA and Indian Railways before the Court, addressing the land transfer issue central to the proposed railway overbridge and the related company liquidation proceedings.
