The proposed development aims to transform railway stations into modern city centres equipped with improved passenger facilities, better connectivity and upgraded infrastructure. Along with Ramdayalunagar, five other major stations under the Sonpur Railway Division will also receive a second entry gate and the remaining construction works.
The tender process for the entire project is scheduled to be completed on November 11. The development work will be carried out under the supervision of the Deputy Chief Project Manager of the Gati Shakti project in the Sonpur Division.
The design of the new station building will draw inspiration from local culture, rich heritage and architectural traditions. To ensure smoother passenger movement, the project will incorporate improved traffic circulation, inter-modal connectivity and clear signage.
Passengers will also benefit from upgraded waiting rooms, well-organised seating areas on platforms and free Wi-Fi facilities. These improvements are intended to make the station more accessible and convenient for travellers.
Ramdayalunagar station is expected to emerge as a major and more convenient alternative to Muzaffarpur Junction in the coming years. As part of the station's development, the length and height of both platforms have already been increased to bring them in line with railway standards.
At present, a total of five pairs of trains, including one Intercity service, operate from Ramdayalunagar station. Once the station is fully developed, additional new express train services will also be introduced from here.
The expansion is expected to directly ease passenger congestion at Muzaffarpur Junction. Residents of Aghoria Bazaar, Gannipur, Sadpura, Bhikhanpura, Kachchi Pakki, Khabra, Majhaulia and Kalambagh Road are expected to benefit from the improved railway infrastructure and easier access to train services.
The second entry gate, platform upgrades and proposed introduction of additional express trains are central to the plan to strengthen Ramdayalunagar station as a more accessible travel option for passengers in and around Muzaffarpur.
