Nashik Fraud Case: Woman Allegedly Cheated of ₹7.5 Lakh in Occult Ritual
A woman from Panvel suffering from asthma was allegedly cheated of ₹7.5 lakh by an occult practitioner in Nashik who promised healing and a shower of money. Police registered a case after disturbing details of the rituals emerged.
According to the information received, the woman, who lives in Panvel and suffers from asthma, learned about the purported divine powers of Arun Dhondu Patil, an alleged occult practitioner operating in the Gangapur area of Nashik. Patil reportedly sent a vehicle to Panvel to bring her to Nashik. She and her husband were blindfolded with black cloth and transported from Panvel to Nashik.
After an occult ritual was performed, the couple were blindfolded again and taken back to Panvel. The same process was repeated during a second visit. The couple were given the impression that the rituals had improved the woman's health, which reportedly strengthened their trust in the alleged fraudster.
Patil subsequently lured the woman with the promise that he could make money rain from the sky through divine and occult powers. For this ritual, he allegedly instructed her to bring clothes stained with menstrual blood.
The woman and her husband were again transported from Panvel to Nashik with their eyes covered by black cloth. They were taken to an area near Balaji Temple on Gangapur Road, where another occult ritual was performed.
During the ritual, the woman's clothes were removed and she was made to wear a thin, white, transparent garment. Water was poured over the garment. The clothes stained with menstrual blood were also used in the ritual.
According to the details of the incident, a human skull, rice, turmeric, vermilion, coloured powder mixed with water and bukka were among the materials used during the alleged occult ceremony. The woman was reportedly made to sit in a semi-naked state as part of the ritual.
The incident came to light following which a case was registered late at night at Gangapur Police Station against Arun Dhondu Patil under the anti-superstition law and relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. The case highlights allegations of financial exploitation involving claims of supernatural healing and promises of extraordinary monetary gains.
