Mamata Banerjee Demands Immediate Release of CJP Leaders Ashutosh and Sourav
Mamata Banerjee has demanded the immediate release of CJP leaders Ashutosh Ranka and Sourav Das, alleging state-sponsored terrorism and police atrocities, as the party thanks her for supporting their release and raises concerns over prolonged custody.
In a post on X, Banerjee said she could understand the desperate motive behind the extension of Ashutosh and Sourav's custody. She described the situation as a dangerous virus being used every day to attack democracy and urged the authorities to stop harassing young men and women belonging to Generation Z. She warned those currently in power that they would not remain in power forever.
Targeting the Narendra Modi-led central government, Banerjee alleged that oppression had reached its peak across the country, from Kolkata to Delhi and Mumbai. Drawing a parallel with India's colonial past, she said that the country's ancestors had also faced oppression when they confronted colonial rulers, but continued their struggle with determination and courage.
"I want to make it absolutely clear that this is state-sponsored terrorism," Banerjee said, alleging that the actions amounted to police atrocities.
Thank you for your support Ma’am!

She further asserted that such oppression could not continue for long. According to Banerjee, the eyes of what she described as arrogant and blindfolded leaders in government would open when determined people stood firmly to "save India" and "save democracy." She added that by then, the people would have won and the killers of democracy would be eliminated.
Banerjee also issued a direct demand to the government, stating that if it believed in democracy, it should release Ashutosh and Sourav immediately.
Earlier, CJP founder Abhijit Dipke had raised concerns over the arrests of his associates Sourav Das and Ashutosh Ranka. He alleged that the custody of Ashu and Sourav was deliberately being prolonged to delay court proceedings and prevent their release.
The exchange has brought renewed attention to the detention of the two CJP leaders, with Banerjee's public intervention and the party's response placing their custody and the demand for their immediate release at the centre of the political controversy.
