Pankaja Munde’s Dasara Rally Draws Supporters as Drought and Farmers’ Issues Take Centre Stage

Pankaja Munde’s Dasara rally at Bhagwan Bhakti Gad in Beed draws supporters from across Maharashtra amid drought conditions. Batule Baba highlights the gathering’s legacy as attention turns to farmers’ issues and relief for drought-hit communities.

Supporters of Maharashtra minister Pankaja Munde are arriving from across the state at Bhagwan Bhakti Gad in Sawargaon Ghat, Beed district, for her Dasara rally. The gathering, rooted in the tradition started by late mass leader Gopinath Munde, is drawing attention amid drought conditions and growing expectations over the issues she will address. Meanwhile, a large number of Maratha community members have also gathered at Narayangad for the Dasara rally associated with Maratha reservation activist Manoj Jarange, making the two gatherings a major topic of discussion in Beed.

Supporters have arrived at Bhagwan Bhakti Gad from Beed, Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, Ahilyanagar, Nanded and various other parts of Maharashtra. Many say the tradition established during Gopinath Munde’s time continues to hold significance. Some supporters said they make it a point to attend the rally every year, while one supporter said he travels to the gathering on foot.

This year, the rally is taking place against the backdrop of drought conditions across the state, which have affected farmers and rural communities. Against this backdrop, Pankaja Munde is expected to speak about the drought situation during the gathering at Bhagwan Bhakti Gad. She had said she would pray to Bhagwan Baba, saying, “My people, please bring rain, Baba.” Her address has therefore attracted considerable attention, particularly over what she will say about the difficulties facing farmers.

Meanwhile, Batule Baba, known for his outspoken remarks, also arrived at Bhagwan Bhakti Gad to attend the rally. Speaking about the gathering’s tradition and the teachings of Bhagwan Baba, he said the rally had been continuing for the past 12 years and was not a recent development.

According to Batule Baba, Rashtrasant Bhagwan Baba chose to stand with the poor and marginalised rather than support the established sections of society, offering them his blessings. He said Gopinath Munde started the rally with the vision of bringing together the 18 traditional caste groups within society. For this reason, he described it as a gathering of the deprived and exploited sections.

Batule Baba also said nobody invites people individually to attend the rally. People come to Bhagwan Bhakti Gad out of faith and tradition. He expressed the expectation that Pankaja Munde and Dhananjay Munde should continue the tradition established by Gopinath Munde.

Addressing the current situation of farmers, Batule Baba said their condition was difficult and expressed hope that Pankaja Munde would speak about their problems during the Dasara rally. The gathering is expected to focus on the legacy of Bhagwan Baba’s teachings, the tradition started by Gopinath Munde and the concerns of rural communities facing drought.

Despite the difficult circumstances, the rally is being organised on a modest scale this year because of the drought. However, it is expected to break previous crowd records. The message from the gathering is also expected to focus on how drought-affected people should be helped.

The government should provide whatever assistance is necessary to those affected by the drought, according to the remarks shared ahead of the rally. The gathering at Bhagwan Bhakti Gad is expected to convey a message on providing relief to drought-hit communities, while Pankaja Munde’s address remains a key point of interest for supporters arriving from across Maharashtra.
