The scheme aims to support students pursuing undergraduate and postgraduate courses in agriculture and home science by providing financial assistance for their education. It also seeks to encourage young people to acquire professional knowledge and skills in agriculture and allied areas.
Under the scheme, students selected from agricultural universities and agricultural institutions are eligible for a scholarship of Rs 5,000 per month. The specified provision in each agricultural university or institution covers 25 students pursuing Agriculture Graduation, six students pursuing Home Science Graduation, 10 students pursuing Agriculture Postgraduation and four students pursuing Home Science Postgraduation.
Agricultural colleges are also covered under the scheme. In these colleges, 10 students pursuing Agriculture Graduation and five students pursuing Agriculture Postgraduation are eligible for the scholarship. The monthly scholarship amount for these categories is also Rs 5,000.
The scheme provides direct monthly financial support to eligible students pursuing higher education in agriculture and related disciplines. By helping reduce the financial burden of education, it aims to facilitate continued studies in agriculture and home science while encouraging students to develop professional capabilities relevant to the agricultural sector.
Eligibility under the scheme is linked to enrolment in eligible government and government-aided agricultural educational institutions in Uttar Pradesh. It covers agriculture and home science courses at undergraduate and postgraduate levels, with the number of scholarship recipients specified according to the institution, course and level of study.
Through the Mukhyamantri Krishak Chhatravritti Yojana, the Uttar Pradesh government seeks to make agricultural education more accessible by providing eligible students with a fixed monthly scholarship of Rs 5,000 and supporting the development of trained human resources for the state's agricultural sector.
