PM Modi Highlights Nalanda’s Role in Spreading Indian Knowledge Across Asia
PM Narendra Modi highlights Nalanda’s role in strengthening knowledge exchange between India and Asia at an international conference in New Delhi, while Culture Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat underscores the global influence of cultural connections.
In a message delivered during the inaugural session of the International Conference on Bharat’s Cultural Connections Across the Globe, Modi said monks, scholars, traders and travellers carried Indian ideas across the world through land and maritime routes. He noted that these exchanges helped establish cultural and intellectual links between India and other regions.
The Prime Minister’s message was read out by Culture Secretary Vivek Aggarwal at the conference, which focuses on Bharat’s cultural connections across the globe.
Meanwhile, Union Minister for Culture and Tourism Gajendra Singh Shekhawat emphasised that the influence of a civilisation cannot be measured merely by its territorial boundaries. He said the exchange of ideas, knowledge and art had enabled civilisations to transcend geographical boundaries.
Shekhawat said the conference was not merely an exercise in understanding history but also an opportunity to explore how the wisdom of the past could shape the future.
The three-day conference is being held at Vigyan Bhawan in New Delhi and will continue until October 16. The event brings the focus on India’s historical cultural exchanges and the role of knowledge-sharing in connecting civilisations across geographical boundaries.
