Rajnath Singh Pushes Defence Self-Reliance, Modernisation Across All Sectors
Defence Minister Rajnath Singh has highlighted India's push for defence self-reliance and modernisation, from weapons and technology to clothing and training, while stressing how food, equipment and facilities help strengthen soldiers' morale.
Speaking in New Delhi at the signing of a memorandum of understanding (MoU) between the Indian Army and the Food Corporation of India, Singh said India now manufactures a significant share of its defence requirements domestically.
He emphasised that strengthening defence capabilities involves more than producing weapons and advanced technology, highlighting the importance of providing soldiers with good food, proper equipment, quality training and adequate facilities.
Singh said these provisions play a key role in boosting the morale of soldiers, underscoring the government's focus on addressing the requirements of military personnel alongside efforts to modernise the country's defence capabilities.
The remarks highlighted the government's emphasis on building domestic defence capabilities while ensuring that soldiers receive the resources and support needed to carry out their duties.
