Ramaiah Memorial Hospital brought together more than 800 citizens in Bengaluru for its World Heart Day fitness festival, combining aerobics, Zumba, Tai Chi, cardiac health awareness and hands-on CPR training to promote heart health.
Held at Dwaraka Hall, Ramaiah Campus, the morning event was flagged off by Dr. Madan S. Gaekwad, Chief Operating Officer (COO), Ramaiah Memorial Hospital. Participants joined aerobics, Zumba and Tai Chi sessions, highlighting the role of regular physical activity in maintaining cardiovascular health.
Kannada and Telugu film actresses Shanvi Srivastava and Kavya Shetty also attended the programme, encouraging citizens to prioritise fitness and heart health in their daily lives.
Beyond physical activity and awareness, RMH's medical experts conducted focused sessions on cardiovascular wellness and provided hands-on CPR training. The sessions equipped participants with practical skills to respond confidently during a cardiac emergency, extending the initiative's focus from prevention to emergency preparedness.
The festival concluded with a specially curated healthy-heart breakfast, reinforcing the role of everyday choices in supporting long-term heart health. Through the community-based programme, RMH sought to make preventive cardiac care more accessible by encouraging people to remain active, understand their heart health and be prepared to act during emergencies.
